AS-Interface, short for Actuator Sensor Interface (ASi), is a simple and cost-effective wiring technology for sensors and actuators in the field. Both the power supply and the data transmission are carried out via a two-core, reverse polarity protected flat cable. ASi devices are connected simply and flexibly using piercing technology—without additional connectors and at any point along the flat cable.

Gateways
ASi gateways are the bridge from AS-Interface to higher-level industrial networks. They control ASi communication and make the data available to the control systems in a structured manner. As an open standard, ASi supports many protocols such as PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, and others. A modern web server offers the option of complete configuration and extensive diagnostics. The integrated REST API also enables innovative IIoT applications.
Power Supplies, Power Extenders, and Repeaters
ASi power supply units supply the connected devices with 30.5 V and feature integrated data decoupling to extract the modulated process data. A large selection of power supply units from 2.8 A to 8 A in various designs is available for this purpose.

ASi modules allow the connection of sensors, motorized drive rollers, or valves at field level. A variety of modules with IP20 degree of protection for control cabinet installation through to IP67 for direct installation in the field fit seamlessly into numerous applications.
Indication / Operation
In automation networks, operating buttons and stack lights are the central interfaces between man and machine. Due to the integrated ASi interface, the devices can be connected directly to the ASi network. In addition to non-safety-related operator button boxes, Pepperl+Fuchs also offers emergency stop buttons. The color and number of modular signal lights can be flexibly adapted to the application.
Safety at Work
AS-Interface offers secure data communication up to PL e/SIL 3. Safety components are especially easy to implement with AS-Interface and meet the latest safety requirements up to PL e (EN ISO 13849) and up to SIL 3 (IEC 61508/EN 62061). Even older AS-Interface networks can be quickly retrofitted with a monitor as a security network. This is due to the unique backwards compatibility. As a result, AS-Interface also ensures a high level of investment security for the future.
